DESCRIPTION

The presence of a Benedictine monastery in the San Giusto countryside has been documented since around 1000; around 1200, for security reasons, the monastic community moved within the walls. The monastery underwent several modifications, until it took on its current form in 1718. The church was destroyed during the Napoleonic suppression in the early 19th century and was rebuilt in the 1980s. The monastery houses a painted wooden statue of the Madonna, from the 14th-century Umbrian-Marche school.
