Si hanno tracce di un insediamento di epoca romana (eta\u2019 di Nerva 96-98 d.c.) come testimoniano alcune monete in bronzo in epoca imperiale rinvenute nella compagna circostante. Con le invasioni barbariche del III secolo dopo Cristo il nucleo urbano venne distrutto.\nRicostruito nel tardo Medioevo, il documento in cui si cita la \u201cplebem S.Justi\u201d risale al 947. Gi\u00e0 parte integrante della circoscrizione ecclesiastica di Fermo, passa, con i longobardi sotto il ducato di Spoleto, quindi, fino al secolo XI alle dipendenze dell\u2019Abbazia di Farfa.\nIl territorio \u00e8 libero comune a partire dal 1150, infatti, nel 1202 troviamo citato Monte San Giusto nel trattato di Polverigi. Nato a Monte San Giusto, studi\u00f2 a Roma presso il Collegio Capranica distinguendosi per intelligenza e rettitudine. Serv\u00ec cinque papi \u2014 da Alessandro VI a Clemente VII \u2014 svolgendo incarichi di grande rilievo politico e militare nello Stato Pontificio: fu governatore di Roma, vescovo di Chiusi, vicelegato della Marca e protagonista della riconquista di Rimini nel 1524. Uomo di forte senso della giustizia, energico e leale, seppe unire l\u2019azione di governo alla cultura umanistica del suo tempo.<\/p><p>Nel suo paese natale fece costruire, tra 1513 e 1524, il maestoso Palazzo Bonafede, una dimora rinascimentale ispirata ai modelli di Urbino e Recanati, insieme nobile residenza e solida fortezza, simbolo della sua grandezza e del suo amore per Monte San Giusto. Commission\u00f2 anche la celebre \u201cCrocifissione\u201d di Lorenzo Lotto per la chiesa di Santa Maria in Telusiano, destinata a essere la cappella di famiglia.
